Parks Canada staff (pictured above) have had a busy summer educating the public about Lake Superior’s natural history, including the story of the Peregrine Falcon. The next Parks Canada event will be held at 7 p.m., October 25th at Nipigon’s La Luna Cafe where expert Brian Ratcliffe will explore successful Peregrine Falcon reintroduction efforts.

On Thursday, October 25th, Parks Canada will help share a story about the fastest animal on the planet. Special guest and wildlife biologist Brian Ratcliff with Thunder Bay Field Naturalists will share his experiences with Project Peregrine—a community effort which helped reintroduce the Peregrine Falcon to the North Shore of Lake Superior after the species was extirpated from Ontario in the 1960s. This successful reintroduction was part of worldwide efforts to save the Peregrine Falcon from extinction. The event is part of Parks Canada’s #WeLoveSuperior series, which aims to draw appreciation and understanding for Lake Superior’s unique natural and cultural heritage.

The event takes place at 7:00 PM at La Luna Cafe in Nipigon, ON (46 Front St). The event is free of charge and guests are invited to arrive a few minutes early if they wish to purchase refreshments.
