The Public Advisory Committee to the Thunder Bay Remedial Action Plan visited Thunder Bay Yacht Club on May 21st to make a presentation to the Club’s executive. The presentation focused on plans for Thunder Bay Harbour cleanup and aquatic habitat restoration. The boaters, most of whom use the harbour for recreation on almost a daily basis, have a thorough knowledge of the harbour.

Yacht Club executive members expressed keen interest in cleanup and also in broader Lake Superior issues like water levels. The result, a call to the RAP Office the day after the presentation asking if the Yacht Club could join the Public Advisory Committee. The answer is yes. The Remedial Action Plan is very pleased to have been invited to speak at the meeting. Public Advisory Committee and Remedial Action Plan Team members look forward to the depth of local knowledge and Lake Superior experience which will be provided by Yacht Club members.

If you wonder how often Thunder Bay Yacht Club members are really on the water, take a look at their sailboat racing schedule.
